Iris Frase ..... "I felt what a lateral G actually feels like... I remember saying to myself, “oh, I love this!”

How Did I Start?
I think it really started back in high school. My mom, also a speed demon, brought home a Corvette and would race anyone off the line at pretty much every stoplight. I loved it! Mario Andretti was a household name growing up, but mostly when referring to my mom’s driving. Fast-forward a few years, I started dating my now husband. One of our first dates, he asked if I’d be interested in a three day Corvette driving school out at Spring Mountain. Of course, I said yes. And that was it. The moment I knew I wanted to take racing, seriously was the first time the car hooked up in a corner and I felt what a lateral G actually feels like. I remember saying to myself, “oh, I love this!” I was the fastest car in the school that weekend, and I was hooked.

My Favorite Car for the Track
My Radical, SR 10 - hands-down. Driving, it is such a visceral experience. It has more of everything - more power, more breaks, more downforce. It’s a predictable race car that responds beautifully to what you give it, but still manages to scare the hell out of you in the best ways.

My Favorite Track
Every track has its pros and cons, but outside of my home track at Waterford Hills, I’d say Road Atlanta. It’s fast, flowing, and just plain fun.

The Best Track Day Experience
That would have to be the American Speed festival- ASF Cup 2025. I just took my first win with a first-place podium last weekend, so that one’s pretty special.

The Worst Experience
Road Atlanta, last October. I was driving with alliance auto sport in an SRF. It was late in the season, and the field was stacked with serious competitors. All guys going for blood and championship points.
I got lapped on the last lap, then punted, spun, and hit by two cars, tearing the back end clean off my car. I was determined to cross the finish line, even if I had to scrape my way there- and I did. Then I was called in by the stewards, which was intimidating, but ultimately it was ruled not my fault. Still… One for the books.
Advice for Newcomers
People often think there are too many barriers to entry- and honestly, there are- but you can absolutely start small, at any age. Go to an OTD, bring your street car, and just get a feel for it.
Once you get your race license and make it through your first real race, you realize you’ve found a family you didn’t even know existed- one you earned your way into. It’s a select guild of modern day gladiators who respect each other and would do anything for one another. It’s really something special.
About Me
I’m a huge supporter of women in motorsports. I sit on the board at M1 concourse and try to bring a woman’s perspective into their racing world and events.
Last year, I organized a Womens race called the stiletto shootout for the American Speed festival. This year, I had the honor of collaborating with the M1 team to create the Ladies Race of Champions (LROC). An innovative competition inspired by the International Race of Champions (IROC) .
We brought together some of the top pro women racers from across different disciplines- including Pippa Mann, Laura Hayes, Taylor Ferns, and Megan Meyer-
all competing in identical Radical race cars. It was an incredible, hard fought event, and $10,000 was awarded to the Shift Up Now foundation.
While, I don’t have personal ambitions to go pro (I race purely for the love of it) I feel my purpose is to help highlight and lift up other women (and men) in the sport, whenever I can. :)

Conclusion
My husband (a very accomplished race car driver) and I run an upscale motorsports club at M1 called The Motor Guild. Our members enjoy craft cocktails, and small bites, overlooking the track, surrounded by people who live and breathe motorsports.
Beyond our social side - parties, event, events, and seminars- we also offer a fleet of cars for rent and curated on track experiences for all levels of drivers. If you share that passion for speed and camaraderie, come check us out at www.motorguild.com
